Man attacked in south Wichita park while walking dog

WICHITA, Kansas – A 44-year-old man was attacked while walking his dog at Chapin Park in south Wichita.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Chapin Park, which is near Hydraulic and MacArthur.

Police report the man was approached by a 30-year-old male and the two had a short conversation.

The 30-year-old started attacking the man with sticks and beat him to the ground.

Two witnesses were driving through the park and started to stop the attack, and the 30-year-old ran away.

The 30-year-old was caught by police near the edge of the park and was arrested.

The 44-year-old was taken to the hospital with injuries to his face, but he is expected to recover.

The 44-year-old said he had no idea who the attacker was or why he was attacked. Police have not determined the motive of the attack either.
