WICHITA, Kansas – Prairie Pines Christmas Tree Farm officially kicked off the Christmas season on Friday morning.
In it’s 40th year the tree farm celebrated with an appearance by Santa, who arrived on the Shocker Train.
Hundreds came out to pick out Christmas trees, take pictures with Santa, and go for hay rides.
“We sell fun,” said owner of Prairie Pines Bob Scott, “This is not about getting a tree, it’s about having a Christmas experience for these children. We have Santa Claus, candy, the old fashion Christmas where families get together.”
The drought affected their tree production. They were only able to grow about 400 on site, but Scott says they had more shipped in to keep up with demand.
