LAKEVIEW, Oregon (KGW) – Another earthquake has hit near Lakeview, adding to the swarm of quakes that have been recorded in the area.
In total, there have been 101 earthquakes larger than 3.0, the largest being magnitude 4.7, and eight earthquakes have been larger than magnitude 4.0.
Ali Ryan with the Oregon Department of Geology says the quakes are likely caused by either by slow-moving stresses on the fault system in the area or groundwater moving through that system.
She says, historically, these swarms can be a sign of something bigger to come.
