Two killed when trailer comes loose in southwest Kansas

MEADE COUNTY, Kansas – Two people were killed Thursday when a trailer became disconnected from a truck and struck their minivan.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Ford F250 was northbound on Meade County Road when the trailer on it disconnected.

The trailer crossed the center lane. A Chevy minivan heading southbound struck the trailer.

Two occupants in the van, 71-year-old Salvador Garcia and 68-year-old Consuelo Garcia both of Liberal, died in the crash.

The driver of the van was transported to Southwest Medical Center.
