Officers identify man shot, killed in Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police have identified the man who was shot and killed when he fired at officers and struck three vehicles.

He was identified on Monday as 18-year-old Jeffrey D. Holden, Jr.

Police said that officers responded early Sunday after receiving multiple reports of someone shooting a gun. Officers were shot at in their vehicles and that one officer was pinned down by the gun fire.

Police said three officers opened fire, and the suspect was fatally wounded in the front yard of a home. No officers were injured. As is standard procedure, the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave while an investigation is conducted. Police say the shooting was captured on video.
