Woman killed in Newton after car strikes bridge guardrail

NEWTON, Kansas – A 69-year-old woman was killed in a crash Monday morning in Newton.

It happened near 12th and Meridian around 8:45 a.m. according to the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office.

A car traveling south on Meridian traveled into the ditch and struck a bridge guard rail.

There were no other cars involved in the crash.

The driver, a 69-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of the family.
