Police to meet tonight with members of junior football league

WICHITA, Kansas – The Wichita Police Department and Parks and Recreation officials will discuss youth sports safety with local coaches and league officials at 5 p.m. today, Sept. 24, inside the Wichita City Council Chambers at City Hall, 455 N. Main.

Officer Larry Carlson from the Patrol South Bureau will present a power point presentation to the Greater Wichita Junior Football League directors and coaches on dealing with angry parents and other conflicts that might occur during coaching youth sports. The meeting stems from a recent incident involving a physical altercation and weapons at a youth-league football practice.

There will be a question and answer session after the presentation.
