KSN’s Back to School Drive helps hundreds of students

WICHITA, Kansas – KSN’s Back to School Drive held during the month of August helped over 1,200 students.

KSN along with Mel Hambelton sponsored the drive.

Over 630 backpacks were filled for students in grades K-5 and 317 bags of school supplies were filled from older students.

Schools that received school supplies from this drive:

  • White Elementary
  • Gordon Parks Elementary
  • Woodman Elementary
  • Mueller Elementary
  • Calvin Elementary
  • Anderson Elementary
  • Adams Elementary
  • Caldwell Elementary
  • Brooks Middle School
  • Coleman Middle School

Financial contributions in the amount of $2,155 were received from 11 businesses and 6 community members.

  • 630 backpacks filled with school supplies for grades K-5
  • 317 bags of school supplies for older students
  • 256 Walmart gift cards ($10 each)
  • 1,203 children (415 families) received supplies directly from HHH or through their school teachers
