WICHITA, Kansas – A standoff that began just before 6:30 a.m. Monday morning has ended peacefully. KSN crews on the scene report that a man was led away in handcuffs shortly before 9 a.m.

Police tell KSN the incident actually began when officers responded to a fight at an apartment complex around 1:00 a.m. Monday morning. The fight involved two roommates who were having an argument.

According to police, a 30-year-old man battered a police officer as they tried to break up the fight. That man was taken to jail where he bonded out five hours later. He then returned to the apartment to get his dog and property. That’s when he got into another altercation with his 29-year-old roommate who stabbed the 30-year-old who was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

When police returned, the 29-year-old would not come out or answer the phone. That’s when the SWAT team was called in. As they approached and made contact, the 29-year-old came out on his own and was taken into custody.

Authorities remain on the scene waiting for a search warrant.
