Three men in custody after shootout in W. Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas – A police chase ends with three suspects being detained after a man was shot in the arm and several shots were fired at police following the suspects.

The incident began outside of the KD Shop gas station on Maple and Maize when three men got into an argument with a 35-year-old male around 7p.m. on Saturday.

The argument escalated inside the store when the 35-year-old was shot in the arm by one of the suspects.

The three suspects fled the scene in a silver car headed north on Maize towards Central, and police began chasing the suspects.

The suspects fired two shots at police during the pursuit, damaging the vehicles, but not hitting any individuals.

The chase ended when the suspects’ car broke down near 13th and Doris.

All three suspects fled the vehicle on foot and one of the suspects continued to fire at the police.

Officers were able to surround the suspects and apprehended all three. Police did not fire any shots at the suspects.

The suspects were not injured, nor were any of the officers involved. The only person injured was the 35-year-old, who was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
