AUGUSTA, Kansas – Emergency crews now know more about a Wichita man’s drowning Sunday night in Santa Fe Lake.

Friends of 47-year-old Tinajera Campos said he was swimming with family members in the swimming area when they saw him come up gasping for air and then went under.

The caretaker of the lake managed to get him out of the water within four minutes. Emergency personnel performed CPR and transported him to Kansas Medical Center in Andover where he was pronounced dead.

Augusta Police Chief Tyler Brewer says an autopsy was conducted Monday to confirm the cause of death, which has not been released.
