Couple ties the knot at assisted living home

SEYMOUR, Wisconsin (WGBA) – A special wedding was held Saturday at an unusual venue in Seymour, Wisconsin: an assisted living center.

The couple, who are both in their 90s, decided to tie the knot.

“I was calling bingo, and that’s where I saw him every week,” Jean Rohloff says as she recalls how she met her new husband.

“I took him to the music in the park and held my hand, and that’s where it started,” she says.

Jean, who is 91, still drives. She says like most marriages, they started as friends, but after two years, and a date later, it turned into more.

“He called the next night, and asked if I’d marry him,” she says.

That was just five weeks ago.

They live at the Good Shepherd Assisted Living facility in Seymour. Both Jean and Jim were married before, but spouses passed on, and Jim says, why be alone now?

“We’re both up in age, but we can enjoy each other,” said Jim.

Friends and family took part in the celebration, embracing living for the future.

“Knowing that he’s having fun, and he’s loved, and he’s living life to the fullest,” said Cathy Zehms, Jim’s granddaughter.

Jim says no matter at what age you’re looking for a partner, find someone like he has.

“She’s just the perfect woman. She’s very kind, she’s nice, she’s always thinking of me, and I’m always thinking about her,” he said.
