More pit bulls tortured with acid in N.M.

LOVINGTON, New Mexico (KOB) – Two dogs in Lovington, New Mexico were attacked with acid again this week in a disturbing sequel to a similar attack in July.

This time, the puppies weren’t as fortunate, and didn’t survive.

“The community is shocked,” said Pat Huntley, an animal rescuer.

The two pit bull puppies were in their yard Monday when someone doused them in acid.

On the weekend of the 4th of July, a family returned from vacation to find their family pet burned by acid.

A week later, another family pit bull was stolen from its home and tortured with acid.

People within the community are trying to raise money and awareness to help catch the cruel person(s) responsible for these acts.

If you have any information or know someone who may be able to help, please call the Lovington Police Department at 575-396-2811, or you can submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 575-393-8005.
