ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (KOB) – A 16-year-old girl out for a walk and a man sleeping under a bridge where swept away by flash flood waters in Albuquerque, New Mexico Wednesday afternoon.
Both are safe after being rescued by emergency crews and a handful of nearby Good Samaritans.
“We were standing in the arroyo,” said 16-year-old Juanita Womack, “and the water came, and it swept my feet out from under me.”
Arian Williams was standing on the arroyo’s bank.
“We tried our hardest to get her out,” Williams said. He called police after he saw a man fighting the arroyo water.
“He was helpless, he was on his back,” said Williams.
