(NBC News) Flooded roadways, cars and neighborhoods are the result of two months worth of rain in just one night on Long Island, New York.
“This is the largest event on record for New York state in terms of rainfall within a 24-hour period,” noted Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone.
Floodwaters kept commuters at bay during rush hour Wednesday on roadways littered with abandoned cars.
In Baltimore, some of the water has receded.
Tuesday was the second wettest day on record there, with ten inches of rain recorded.
Much of the floodwaters have receded in Detroit, as well, where residents still can’t believe how fast it rose.
