Students head back to improved schools

WICHITA, Kansas – The West High School Pioneers are starting a new school year with some new upgrades to facilities across campus.

“We’ve just been hearing about it, and we’re just now seeing it and we’re getting crazy excited,” said John McCullogh, Junior.

Two and half years of construction hassles for students and staff are finally over.

“It is just tremendously exciting to have new facilities to get more kids in here and get them involved. It’s going to be a great school year,” said Joel Hudson, West High School Principal.

“What we used to have is really ancient stuff.”

Also included in the improvements is a new competition ready aquatics facility, a new band hall and choir classroom that doubles as a FEMA approved storm shelter.

“Upgraded facilities, tremendous improvements to the building, improved school pride, we all know students who are involved in school are more in school, and they’ll do better in school,” added Hudson.
