Garden City police investigating alleged kidnapping for hire plot

GARDEN CITY, Kansas – The Garden City Police Department is investigating an alleged kidnapping for hire plot.

Police were informed that a 47-year-old man had made numerous attempts to hiring people to kidnap his daughter from the mother’s home in Macksville.

His ex-wife was awarded custody of their daughter.

The 47-year-old man made contacts with undercover police believed to be cartel members.

The man stated it was his desire to have his juvenile daughter kidnapped so he could flee the country.

Last night, police arrested the 47-year-old man.

He was taken into custody for alleged crimes of conspiracy to commit aggravated kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit aggravated parental interference, criminal solicitation and possession of a controlled substance.

The vehicle driven by the man was found to contain a large amount of clothing for himself as well as his daughter.
