WICHITA, Kansas – Resuming its series downtown, the Wichita State men’s basketball team will host Saint Louis at Intrust Bank Arena on Saturday, December 6th.
The Shockers and Billikens will be wrapping up a home-and-home series that began in 2013 with WSU’s 70-65 victory in St. Louis. The Billikens won 27 games last season and made the NCAA Tournament, but graduated several of their top scorers.
Playing in the area’s largest venue, Wichita State is undefeated (4-0 overall) at Intrust Bank Arena after last season’s win over the Tennessee Volunteers. The game was played in front of over 14 thousand people.
The Shockers will also host numerous challenging teams at their main home-Koch Arena during the upcoming season. Along with their Missouri Valley Conference opponents, WSU welcomes New Mexico State, Tulsa, Seton Hall, and Alabama. Beyond that, the Shocks will face Memphis, Utah and Detroit on the road.
WSU senior associate athletic director Darron Boatright told KSN, “We’re trying to make our schedules here as competitive as our team deserves. Five or six years ago nationally, Wichita State wasn’t as big a basketball brand as it is now. But now the basketball world is paying attention and respects our program, respects what Coach Marshall has built here and they’re willing to play. Scheduling doesn’t become easier, but it sure gets us in the door a little bit easier.”
