Fire crews respond to titanium fire at Spirit AeroSystems

WICHITA, Kansas – Sedgwick County fire crews responded to Spirit AeroSystems Plant 2 after a report of a titanium fire.

The report came in just after 1:30 at 4400 East MacArthur.

Fire crews on the scene say the fire was knocked down before crews arrived.

The fire was contained to an oven.

Approximately 50 people were displaced due to smoke in the area.

No one was hurt.

According to Spirit AeroSystems, the cause is not known.

The company is planning a full investigation.

Spirit AeroSystems experienced a small fire today around 1:30 p.m. CDT near a titanium milling machine. Spirit Fire & Security Operations is on the scene and the fire is out. Sedgwick County Fire was also called to the scene as a precaution. Approximately 50 people were displaced from their work area due to smoke. No one was hurt. The cause is not known at this time, but a full investigation will be performed.
