Dog nabs burglars

BOULDER, Colorado (KUSA) – When a Boulder, Colorado couple adopted a neglected dog for Valentine’s Day, they had no idea the Weimaraner pointer mix, named Squid, would one day help them catch a burglary suspect.

Tina Fuller and her boyfriend Marshall Sommers said Squid started barking around 3 in the morning on July 23.

“It was pretty unusual for him to do that,” Fuller said.

She called police after she looked out the window and saw two men dressed in black with bags and flashlights.

“They looked classic,” she said.

Boulder police say one suspect, 22-year-old Thomas Frampton was arrested and charged with trespassing and burglary. Another suspect fled on a bike.

Fuller says her car was burglarized. Police were able to recover some of their belongings. Detectives believe the suspects may be tied to a string of thefts on Columbine Avenue.

Squid was rescued from Kansas, where the rescue organization said he had been chained up for 3 years.

“He didn’t have fur on his neck. It had just worn off,” Fuller explained.
