WICHITA, Kansas — District Attorney Marc Bennett held a short press conference Friday afternoon regarding the Kansas Supreme Court decision to overturn the Carr brothers’ death sentence.

Bennett said the ruling “creates one certainty” — Jonathan and Reginald Carr will not be released from prison. The conviction of capital murder for each victim carries a life sentence.

The D.A. said his next step is to review the 400-plus pages published by the Kansas Supreme Court Friday and will proceed accordingly.

He further said that both sides have the option to seek appeal.
