WICHITA, Kansas – Lt. Mattingly of the Sedgwick County Sherriff’s Department warns for people to leave their valuables at home or take them with you when parking your car near the Sedgwick County Zoo area.

Two cases of car break-ins were reported just this past week in NW Wichita.

On July 19, a car was broken into a purse robbed while it was parked at the Sedgwick County Zoo.

On July 20, another car was broken into near the baseball fields at 1600 N Ridge road. A purse and portable DVD player were stolen.

Mattingly said that he saw a similar series of burglaries last year. They believe that the culprits were watching people stash their belongings in the vehicles and quickly break in.
