Garden City police respond assault at Law Enforcement Center

GARDEN CITY, Kansas – Garden City police responded to an aggravated assault at the Law Enforcement Center last Thursday.

The investigation revealed that the victim went to 3201 Campus Dr. in an attempt to repo a vehicle for LCB Management.

As the victim was attempting to pick up the vehicle he was approached by the suspect, 27-year-old Darrell Williams.

The victim advised Williams of the order to repo the vehicle.

It upset Williams and he went to the vehicle and removed a handgun from the vehicle and threatened the victim.

The victim fled the area in his vehicle with the suspect giving chase in his vehicle.

As the suspect chased the victim the suspect held the gun out of the window, the victim drove directly to the LEC, when he did Williams then left the area.

Officers attempted to locate Williams but were unsuccessful.

On Friday, officers located Williams at his residence and he was arrested without incident. The suspect vehicle was located by officers after it was hidden at another location in Garden City.

Search warrants were obtained for the suspect’s vehicles and residence.

Upon service of the search warrant, officers located evidence of the crime to include handguns.

Further investigation revealed that one handgun found in the search warrant was reported stolen from a residential burglary that occurred in March of 2014 in Garden City.

Officers also located 246 grams of suspected marijuana and other evidence.

The investigation also concluded that Williams had two small children in the residence that had easy access to the firearms and suspected marijuana and he was also wanted from Kay County Oklahoma for trafficking cocaine.

Williams was arrested.

He faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of marijuana, aggravated child endangerment, possession of stolen property.
