Construction worker killed in Reno County

HUTCHINSON, Kansas – The Kansas Highway Patrol says a construction worker was killed in an accident on K61 at Red Rock Road in Reno County.

It happened Tuesday evening around 6 p.m.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, two construction vehicles were stopped to pick up cones and signs in the northbound lanes.

That is when a car traveling northbound rear-ended and side swiped three vehicles. Two of those were construction vehicles.

A driver outside of his vehicle picking up signs was struck and died.  He was identified as 22-year-old Dylan Snyder of Kansas City.

Snyder and two others were sent to hospitals.

At the time of the accident, three vehicles, including two road construction vehicles, were stopped in the highway’s northbound lane while the traffic cones and signs were being picked up.

The driver of the trash truck was not seriously injured.
