Shooting sends one person to hospital; police searching for suspect

WICHITA, Kansas – One person is being treated for gunshot wounds and police are looking for a suspect in an overnight shooting in northeast Wichita.

Police were called to the scene in the 1200 block of North Spruce just after 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.

They found a 33-year-old man suffering with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition but his wounds are not considered life-threatening.

Witnesses told police the man was visiting with friends when someone came up to the front yard and fired one shot.

Overnight police went door-to-door getting statements from witnesses. So far, they have not identified a suspect in the case.
