WICHITA, Kansas – The fifth annual BlackTop Nationals is about to roll through Wichita, and there are some changes from previous years.
This year’s event features the 50th anniversary celebration of the Ford Mustang.
The three day event kicks off on Friday, August 22nd with all sorts of activities, including several car shows.
Organizers of the auto event say there are a few surprises in store for visitors including some new events.
“We have moved the autocross down to the parking lot of the Kansas Star Casino and for those of you that like to see the cars compete, we’ve got something for you. We’re bringing in for the first time at the BlackTop, the Kansas Electro Rally,” said Jim Petty, Blacktop Nationals.
The electro rally is a competition between high school kids around Kansas who have designed and built electric cars at their schools.
They are expecting nearly 175,000 visitors over the three day event.
