Oakley man crashed small plane overnight in Ellis County

HAYS, Kansas – The Kansas Highway Patrol says a pilot died when his crop dusting plane crashed in northwest Kansas Thursday night, according to KHP Trooper Tod Hileman.

The crash was discovered Friday morning just after 10 a.m. approximately five miles north and five miles east of Ellis near 170th Avenue and St. John Road.

The patrol says the fixed-wing single-engine plane went down Friday morning in a field northeast of Ellis.

The pilot was 23-year-old Garrett Moore of Oakley.

The aircraft was an Air Tractor AT-401B spray plane owned by Frontier AG of Oakley.
