ATLANTA (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration says a small plane with two people aboard has been destroyed by fire in a crash in a wooded area of western Georgia.

FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the agency had no immediate report on the fate of those aboard the aircraft or their identities, saying her information was preliminary.

She said in an email that Sunday’s accident involved a Steen Skybolt in the Carrollton, Ga., area but that local authorities at the site would have to provide more details.

A dispatcher with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department said authorities were at the site Sunday evening and she had no further details while they were still at the scene.
