LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Wichita State alum Cleanthony Early scored 13 points for the New York Knicks in a 76-64 Summer League victory over Dallas on Friday in Las Vegas.
Making his NBA Summer League debut, Early was 5-10 from the field and 3-4 from three-point land. In one of the top plays of the game, he emphatically dunked over two Dallas defenders in the 3rd quarter.
Early was the 34th overall pick by Phil Jackson and the Knicks in the 2014 NBA Draft.
Also playing for New York on Friday was former KU Jayhawk big man Cole Aldrich. He closed out with 9 points and 15 rebounds.
Ex-WSU Shocker Gal Mekel suited up for the Mavs and racked up 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
New York’s Tim Hardaway Jr. was the leading scorer overall, finishing with 25 points in the victory.
Derek Fisher, who was hired earlier this summer was victorious in his coaching debut with the Knicks.
