NORTH MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (WBRE) – A tiny dog stolen from a Pennsylvania animal shelter has been returned.

The daughters of the woman who took the dog recognized her picture in news reports and took the Yorkshire terrier back to the Hillside SCPA shelter in North Manheim Township.

Shelter staffers say the woman had visited the shelter several times. Surveillance footage shows she waited until no one was looking and then opened the door to the shelter’s small dog building and drove off with the Yorkie.

“She had told me her dog had recently died and she was looking for another one. She wanted a furry, fluffy dog,” said shelter manager Barbara Umlauf.
