WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police say 25-year-old Shawn Palmer died this weekend after being thrown from his father’s stolen truck.

It happened early Saturday morning in the 3900 block of South Meridian.

Police say the two brothers realized their dad’s Ford pickup had been stolen.

They spotted it at the Quik Trip on Meridian and MacArthur Road.

Both brothers confronted the suspect, but he sped off.

Both brothers were holding onto the truck, and both were thrown off and injured when the suspect took off.

“Both of the brothers were then thrown from the truck as it was speeding away,” said Lt. Randy Reynolds, Wichita Police Department.

Police said that Shawn died from his injuries on Sunday.

Officers located the truck in the 3000 block of West 44th Street South.

They arrested 34-year-old Edward Ladish.

He was booked on two counts of aggravated battery, felony theft and burglary.

Lt. Randy Reynolds with the Wichita Police Department says the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney.

“We will present the case later in the week to the district attorney’s office for the appropriate charges if any,” added Reynolds.

The older brother was treated and released at a hospital.
