RACINE, Wis. (AP) — The Racine Police Department says a man has died after an officer-involved shooting.

Lt. David Wohlgemuth says officers responding to a report of a suicidal individual entered an apartment in Racine on Sunday afternoon and encountered a man with a weapon.

Wohlgemuth says police shot the man after he failed to comply with commands to drop the weapon and his actions continued to threaten the officers. It was not immediately clear what type of weapon the man had.

The man was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, where he died. Police did not identify the victim or officers involved.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the shooting.
