WICHITA, Kansas – A Wisconsin firefighter is making a grueling, 6,000 mile bike trek from Seattle, Washington to Miami, Florida, in hopes of raising money for a good cause.

Chris Rupp, a 25-year old firefighter, arrived at Wichita Fire Station 1 on Sunday evening.

This stop marks over 3,000 miles of a bicycle trip he plans to make across the country.

Rupp is raising money and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Through the many cities he’s visited during his trek across the country, he’s also granted some wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

“The most profound [wish] was in Santa Maria, there is a 16-year-old young boy with cerebral palsy,” said Rupp. “His wish was to have a wheelchair accessible van and so we did a big thing at the [fire] station.”

Rupp says he hopes to raise $100,000 for Make-A-Wish.

His next stop will be Fredonia, Kansas.
