Two fires reported in Salina overnight

SALINA, Kansas – Salina firefighters were busy late Thursday and early Friday morning battling two fires.

The first fire happened in the 2300 block of Shalimar Drive.

According to KSAL, the fire at the home was ignited by fireworks.

A teen alerted the homeowners to the fire. They were able to escape safely.

A short time later, fire crews responded to a fire at the Flamingo Motel near North 2nd and Pacific.

The fire started in one of the abandoned rooms and caused extensive damage.

The cause of the fire at the motel has not been determined.
