Man arrested in Hutchinson standoff

HUTCHINSON, Kansas – A Hutchinson that man barricaded himself in a garage after firing an assault rifle into the air has been apprehended.

Police fired tear gas into the garage Friday around 5pm, forcing the man out.

The man fled down a nearby alley, and police fired bean bag rounds to subdue the culprit.

The suspect was identified as 52-year-old Thomas Fee and police are investigating the residence.

Hutchinson Police Chief Dick Heitschmidt stated the standoff began on Friday at 10am when police were called to investigate a noise complaint.

Residents first believed the sound were loud fireworks, however officers found out that it may have been a firearm.
