Over 100,000 rounds of ammo stolen from Wichita home

WICHITA, Kansas – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a large theft of ammunition.

A Wichita resident was robbed on June 26, in which the robber took several thousand rounds of ammunition and several other valuables.

The burglary was by an unknown person who broke into the residence near 8400 S. West Street, between 5am to 4pm.

Lt. David Mattingly spoke about the theft.

“1,000 cases of ammunition is 30 to 40 pounds depending on what caliber it is,” Lt. David Mattingly, Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department.

Other items lost in the robbery included an Ace Frehley guitar, an amplifier, miscellaneous tools, sets of golf clubs, rolls of wire, and various electronics.

The loss is estimated at $46,803. Damage to the property is estimated around $1,000.

Ace Frehley is the founding member of the rock band, KISS, with guitar prices ranging from $300 to several thousands of dollars.
