Houston baby found abandoned after carjacking

HOUSTON, Texas (KPRC-TV) — An Amber Alert has been canceled after a missing 8-month-old baby was found safe, abandoned in a vacant lot in Houston, Texas.

Authorities say the baby, Genesis Haley, was in her mother’s car when it was stolen early Monday morning at a Texaco Gas station in north Houston.

Houston police say the baby’s mother left the sleeping baby in her running vehicle at around 1 a.m. Monday to go inside the convenience store. She then saw a suspect get into her vehicle and drive away.

Several hours later, Hong Nguyen was jogging when she heard a baby crying in some brush. She then called 911.

“I was very worried. It was scary,” said Nguyen.

Police later found the car abandoned near an apartment complex.
