Golf tournament brings tourism dollars to Wichita

Wichita , Kan.– It’s an annual tradition as thousands make their way to Crestview Country Club this weekend for the Air Capital Classic Golf Tournament.

With so many people coming in, the economic impact is felt throughout Wichita.

“It brings $4.6 million, just the economic impact to the community. It’s more than a golf tournament and it’s more than an event the community takes pride in, financially it’s very good for the city,” said Roy Turner.

“That’s real rewarding to know that it has a broader reach than just the people that come out and enjoy the day, that it’s doing something to support the community,” said Angie Elliott.

But it’s not just businesses getting the benefit of seeing the number of customers go up, there’s also more people investing in the event. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
