City council postpones decision on new airport food vendors

WICHITA, Kansas – The Wichita City Council postponed a decision over which food vendor will be allowed at Wichita’s new airport.

There was some controversy over which food vendors will be allowed.

They include Dunkin’ Donuts, Chick-fil-A, and River City Brewing Company.

At today’s meeting, some of the current food vendors at the airport spoke out saying they were not encouraged to submit a bid.

“I didn’t appreciate how we were included in this process. You were either a big boy, or you did not exist,” said Micale Habtemarian, Sarah’s Ice Cream and Bakery.

So to give other restaurants, especially minority businesses a chance to submit a bid, the council voted to postpone the issue until the July 2nd meeting.
