Sword-wielding man threatens officer

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police arrested a 55-year-old man after he threatened an officer with swords.

It happened Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m. at the Chit Chat Wireless store in the 2000 block of South Seneca.

The clerk told police that a man walked into the store with the swords.

The clerk then told police he asked the man to take them out of the store.

The man laid them outside, walked back into the store, and stole a cell phone.

That’s when the clerk called 911.

An officer found the suspect near the 1900 block of South Exposition carrying the swords.

The man walked towards the officer but dropped the swords when asked.

The man was arrested for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and shoplifting.
