Man shot in drive-by near downtown

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police are investigating a drive-by shooting that sent a 48-year-old tow truck driver to the hospital.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of North Washington.

The man says he was driving his truck when a car pulled up beside him.

“While driving southbound on Washington, in the 600 block of Washington, a white Pontiac drove by him and fired three shots,” said Lt. Steve Kenny, Wichita Police Department.

The 48-year-old drove to St. Francis Hospital.

According to a police report, he had injuries to his right arm and back.

Police say the suspect is a black man in his 20s.

He was wearing a red and black baseball hat and black clothes.

The suspect left east on Central.
