City of Lucas employee electrocuted

LUCAS, Kansas – A 65-year-old City of Lucas employee is dead after being electrocuted while installing a security light.

It happened Wednesday morning in the 500 block of South Wolf Street in Lucas.

Lucas city clerk Kay Mettlen says the man and another city employee were doing electrical work Thursday morning when he died. The cause of the death is still being investigated.

The man’s name has not yet been released.

An investigation into the cause of the electrocution is ongoing with the Kansas Department of Labor.
