TOPEKA, Kansas (AP) – The director of the Veterans Affairs medical center in Wichita says none of the 385 patients on an unauthorized waiting list for care were harmed because of it.

Director Francisco Vazquez made the statement in a letter Thursday to Kansas Congressman Tim Huelskamp. The Republican lawmaker visited the Wichita medical center Wednesday, seeking information about the list.

Huelskamp serves on the House Veterans Affairs Committee and made the letter public.

Vazquez said the unauthorized list in Wichita involved veterans seeking primary care services in their homes.

He said 126 of the veterans were enrolled in the home-care program and 245 received primary care services outside the program.

He said the remaining 14 were not receiving any primary care from any VA source but now have services scheduled.
