NEWTON, Kansas – Harvey County authorities have released new details in the death of a 28-year-old teacher who died after being hit by a car.
The sheriff’s office says 28-year-old Crystal Stauffer of Newton died after she was struck Tuesday on a road west of Newton in Harvey County.
Investigators believe the accident was caused when the 40-year-old driver rolled her window back up after having dirt blow into her car by a passing vehicle.
Authorities say she had no time to respond and stop from hitting Stauffer.
She stopped and called 911. She was not hurt in the accident.
Officials say no charges are being filed at this time.
