Two killed in crash north of Liberal

LIBERAL, Kansas – Two people from Oklahoma were killed Sunday afternoon in a crash north of Liberal.

It happened 15 miles north of Liberal on Highway 83.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a Ford truck, driven by 31-year-old Travis Burgess of Turpin, Oklahoma, was traveling southbound.

He went left of center and struck a northbound Oldsmobile driven by 32-year-old Gabriela Cano of Hooker, Oklahoma.

Gabriela and 14-year-old passenger, Evelin Cano, were both killed.

Another passenger in Cano’s car was injured.

Burgess also suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital.
