KBI investigating officer-involved shooting in SE Kansas

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Kansas – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left the suspect dead.

It happened late Sunday afternoon.

A Kansas Highway Patrol motor carrier inspector assisted the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at a rural residence with a subject who was reported to be armed.

Upon arriving, the KHP officer and Montgomery County deputies located the suspect, and shots were fired, killing the suspect.

No officers were injured.

In accordance with KHP policy, the officer has been placed on administrative leave while this case is being investigated.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation in this case.
