WICHITA, Kansas – Forty aspiring entrepreneurs took part in the third Startup Weekend in Wichita May 31st and June 1st.
The competition is meant to allow participants an opportunity to see if the “enterpreneurial life” is a good fit.
Seven teams had 54 hours to pitch their ideas, go through the process of building a company, then present it to judges.
Kenton Hansen, Startup Weekend organizer, said of Wichita entrepreneurs, “Without them here, Wichita would cease to exist in 50 or 100 years, but we have people who are building products and toys and games and services that are gonna keep new dollars flowing through the economy.”
Awards were given in two categories. The Judges Choice winner was a table-top game called “Bang and Burn.”
The Community Choice winner was a family recipe collection service called “Tasty Tradition.”
