HUTCHINSON, Kansas – Saturday evening the Hutchinson Fire Department responded to a call of a vehicle accident with an occupant trapped and in the water.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Doug Hanen, around 6:05 p.m. Saturday evening the Hutchinson Fire Department Gold Crew were called to the 9300 block of North K-61 for a vehicle accident where a car was reportedly submerged with the driver inside.

Upon arrival, responders found the driver had been assisted by bystanders and was standing on the bank safely.

The driver refused medical transport and was not injured, there were no other passengers.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated.

Three fire units were dispatched to the call, but the third unit was called off once the first two had arrived.
