DERBY, Kansas – One sure sign of summer is the opening of pools and water parks.
Derby’s Rock River Rapids opened for it’s 11th season yesterday.
The water park spent about $80,000 this spring rejuvenating their six water slides.
After last summer’s rainy spell, those at the water park are hoping for sunny days.
“We live in Kansas and in Kansas you can never predict the weather, but we are just hoping for a warm hot summer,” said Tonya Sullivan, Rock River Rapids.
May is also water safety month and Rock River Rapids does offer swimming lessons.
