Police: Kids were not staying at storage unit

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police and Sumner County authorities investigated what seemed to be a misunderstanding.

Police originally said that a 38-year-old grandmother and her three grandchildren, ages 4,3, and 1, were living in a storage unit on South Seneca.

However, as the day progressed Thursday, the story changed.

Officials say the kids were not staying there.

The children were at the storage unit with their grandparents when the grandfather left for an unknown period of time and the children stayed at the unit with their grandmother.

After the investigation was concluded the children were released into the custody of their father.

The grandmother was taken into custody for outstanding warrants not related to the situation.
